Burnouts and Burn Downs
Burnout’s a real bitch.
You’re spinning out of control like a Prius on black ice, and you’re convinced there’s not a damn thing you can do about it. Time for a reality check, my friend. This victim mentality is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. You’ve got agency, so own it. Believe that you can steer your life back onto a course that doesn’t resemble a dumpster fire.
Convince yourself that taking action can flip your emotional script. You’re not a marionette to your feelings. Start listening to your body like it’s the most riveting podcast ever made. It’s time for more sleep, breaks, and paying attention to your emotional needs.
And work? It’s time to reassess. If you’re drowning in commitments like an overzealous Olympic swimmer, it’s time to pump the brakes. Can you ask for a deadline extension? Or kick that committee to the curb? Or take a vacation that actually involves more than a Netflix binge? You might think these moves are harder than doing your taxes in a foreign language, but question the assumptions you’ve made.
Change your mindset, take some small but meaningful actions, and watch as you regain control over your life and burnout fades away like an 80s hair band.
