Hey there, if you’re new to managing a team, you might be finding it tougher than you expected to keep your employees happy, productive, and motivated at the start of the year. But don’t worry, you can definitely tackle these challenges and lead by example.

Firstly, it’s crucial to acknowledge any discomfort your team may be experiencing and help them re-focus on the company’s mission and their personal values. Showing appreciation for their work through a dedicated Slack channel for positive feedback can help.

Secondly, building strong relationships with your team members should be a priority for any new leader. Checking in with your employees regularly and expressing genuine care and interest can help build trust.

Lastly, showing your humanity and leading by example is key. You can do this by scheduling a “Take-a-Break-Day” to encourage your team to take some time off for rest and rejuvenation. Remember, if you want your employees to open up to you, you have to be willing to express your own feelings too.
