As we roll through the fabulous month of May, let’s remember that it’s Mental Health Month.

You might be thinking, “Brian, what does mental health have to do with recruiting?”

Well, let me tell you, folks, everything is connected — even the way we interact with our devices can impact our mental well-being.

So, here are a few tips for all of you tech-savvy humans out there who want to prioritize mental health during this crucial month (and beyond).

🔋 Unplug: As much as I love diving into the depths of the digital world, it’s important to take a step back and have a break from screens. Set aside some time each day to disconnect and just be present in the moment. Trust me, your brain will thank you.

🔋 Cultivate a healthy online environment: Social media can be a double-edged sword. Curate your feeds and follow people who uplift and inspire you, not those who bring you down. It’s like Marie Kondo says, if it doesn’t spark joy, let it go!

🔋 Seek out support: If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. There are tons of resources available — from teletherapy to online support groups — that can assist you in maintaining your mental health.

🔋 Exercise your mind: Mental health is just as important as physical health. Prioritize self-care activities like meditation, mindfulness, and even a good old-fashioned walk outside to keep your mind in tip-top shape.

🔋 Practice empathy: It’s no secret that the tech world can be a competitive and high-pressure environment. Remember to be kind to yourself and others. A little empathy goes a long way in fostering a healthier mindset.

So, as we navigate this glorious month of May, let’s all make an effort to take care of our mental health. After all, a healthy mind is the foundation for innovation, creativity, and success. And hey, if that means putting down your phone or laptop for a little while, so be it.
