One of the most important aspects of starting a new job is building relationships early on with your colleagues — how can you be proactive in building a positive relationship with your new team?

✌️Picture your future self.

Envision what you want your relationship with your boss to look like. How often do you speak to each other? What do you talk about?

Write down a statement about what you want and keep it in a place where you can consult it regularly.

✌️Make an action plan.

Write down the steps you will take to make your vision a reality. Remember, the ultimate goal is for you to find a way of making your relationship with your team a win-win.

✌️Monitor your relationships.

As you grow into your role and get busier, it will be easy to stray from your vision or lose track of the progress you’ve made. Remember to check in with yourself on a regular basis to ensure your relationship is on the right path.
